As winter sets in here in Canada, I’m bringing out all the warm layers and blankets to help with the chill. After a day of tobogganing and playing in the snow, we love to make a cup of hot chocolate, turn on the electric fireplace, and snuggle up under a soft blanket. Is there any better feeling than getting cozy underneath an ultra plush, weighted blanket after a long day?
This blanket is the perfect Netflix and Chill or Stitchflix project. The jumbo (7) weight yarn works up very quickly. I was able to finish the whole blanket while watching a few episodes of The Crown. While I’m told I stitch fairly fast, I believe most could get this done in a day. This also makes it a great last minute gift for any of your loved ones!
The Yarn:
For this project I used Loops & Thread Cozy Comfort yarn. It’s incredibly soft and works up lightening fast as a jumbo weight yarn. My only complaint with the yarn is that there were breaks/joins in the skeins. The skeins themselves are only 21 yards, so it seems like there could be better quality control. That being said, the joins were strong and because the yarn is plush, they are easily hidden.
A follower also suggested sewing the ends together which I thought was very smart. Because the yardage per skein is short, if you sew the ends together, you could eliminate the wastage by having to tie and weave your ends. You would also only have to weave you cut off tail! If you are a multi-crafter that seems like a great solution. I personally do not have ANY sewing skills. Maybe one day!
Skill Level:
Advanced Beginner / Intermediate. This plush yarn can be a little tricky to see where your stitches are It can also get a little tiring for your arms if you do it all in one sitting. Make sure to give yourself breaks if you need it!
Materials:
213 yards ( 7 ) Jumbo Yarn. I used 10 skeins of Loops & Threads Cozy Comfort (21.3yds / 10.5 oz – 19.5m / 300g) in color ‘Elderberry’.

Something to use as stitch markers. Because this yarn is quite large, regular stitch markers did not work. I used some of my daughters stretchy fidget toys that I could tie around the stitch but piece of scrap yarn or some paper would work also.
Gauge:
5.5 stitches x 4 rows = 8″ square in SC
Finished Size:
36 x 52 inches. This makes a child size / lap blanket. If you want a larger blanket, you can add additional chains and rows to make it larger. Remember that you will also be increasing the yardage needed!

Row 2 – 26: CH1, SC in each ST. At the end of row 26, do not turn your work, do not cut your yarn. We will make a SC border to make the edges look nice. At this point the blanket was quite heavy, so I put my work on the floor and sat on top of my project to do the border.
Border:
CH1, we will now work down the left side. Place 1SC in the same ST as last, 1SC in each row until you reach the bottom corner. SC, CH1, SC in corner ST. Repeat around until you reach your starting point. CH1, SLST to 1st ST. Tie off. I used my fingers to weave the ends.
All done! Ready to give as a gift or enjoy for yourself!

Summer is over, and I made great memories with my toddler as we spent a lot of time in the garden growing various flowers. We sat in the garden basking in the sun, admiring the bloomed flowers, drinking lemonade, eating watermelon, and occasionally chasing after a butterfly.
The lustrous colours of the watermelon and its deliciousness inspired the crochet design of this wall hanging. You will agree eating a watermelon brings this great, joyous feeling so much so that I wanted to get some of that joy into my home, and I hope to share this joy with you all!
The layers of pink, green, white, and the specks of black when you cut a watermelon are so beautiful. When I completed the project and hung it in the kitchen, the room immediately brightened up. The watermelon colours crocheted together give this brilliant finish to the space, bringing back the exhilarating feeling similar to that I got when sitting in my colourful garden.
At a glance, anyone should be able to tell that the wall hanging represents a watermelon. Even my toddler is delighted by this abstract art, and says “wah-mel-on” while pointing excitedly!
The watermelon wall hanging is a quick and easy project for any space that needs a light, bright piece!
The Yarn
I used Loops & Threads Eco Brights. I had some leftover yarn from another project, a baby blanket that I worked on in a similar style (pattern coming soon!). The yarn, made from recycled plastic, is soft and available in a wide range of colours. Normally, I would not use soft yarn for a wall hanging as it tends to droop, but this yarn worked perfectly for this crochet design. The colours of Loops & Threads Eco Brights, specifically the pink and green, were just the perfect shade to bring my vision of crocheted watermelon wall hanging to life.
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner / Intermediate
This project is constructed starting with the base, which is crocheted row by row in Half Double Crochet Between Posts (HDCBP). The next step is making the seeds which is done partially in the round and then rows. To finish, we will seam the seeds to the base and attach it to a stick/dowel.
Materials
250 yards, bulky weight (5) yarn. I used Loops & Threads Eco-Brights (5.3oz/150g-255 yds/236m) in colours: White, Green & Bright Pink. ** You can substitute any weight yarn you have available – just be aware that it will change the finished size of the project!**
I used Loops & Threads Impeccable in Black for the seeds.

Darning Needle (bent end works best for attaching seeds)
Eco Brights Yarn is on the thin side of Bulky (5). I believe you could get away with using a worsted weight (4) yarn. Or substitute any weight yarn you have available. Just be aware this may change the finished size of the project. It’s always best to do a gauge swatch before beginning.

Attach to Stick / Dowel
With RS facing, join two stands of yarn at top right corner. Pull up a big loop and insert your stick.Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over.Pull through stitch.Pull the loops up taller than the stick.Remove your hook.Slide loops over stick, then pull snug but not too tight. Repeat for each stitch, sliding stick along as you go.
Add Fringe – Optional
With WS facing, insert hook from back to front.With fringe folded in half, pull up a loop.Remove hook, grab yarn with your fingers and pull through. Pull snug. Alternate using one, then two pieces of fringe to keep it from getting crowded/looking to sparse.If you want to shape the fringe, I recommend using masking tape to help hold your yarn as you cut. In this photo, I chose a triangle shape but this is a great chance to get creative!
Add a Hanger
RS – Cut 4 pieces of yarn to approx. 24 inches or your desired length. Make a slip knot over one end and pull snug, tie a knot. Repeat with second side.WS – You could put a dab of hot glue or cut/file a notch behind where your hanger string sits, so it doesn’t squeeze your work in from the sides.

The Yarn
Like many of my wall hangings, I used Loops and Threads Impeccable in colours Black [MC] & White [CC]. It’s a great affordable acrylic yarn, with many colour options that’s available at my local Michael’s. Any worsted Category 4 yarn that is stiff is perfect for wall hangings as it can hold its shape on the wall. Choose two bold contrasting colours that speak to your space and brand and give this project a go.

The Yarn
The yarn I have used is Bernat Handicrafter Cotton, which is available in multiple colors and various skein sizes. Some of the colors include a scent which may not be ideal for those with sensitivity to smells, as it can be overpowering. You can substitute with any worsted weight (4) cotton yarn that matches the gauge. Some yarns that are comparable are: Lily Sugar n’ Cream, Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/8, Hobby Lobby Crafters Secret Cotton, Paintbox Yarns Recycled Cotton and Peaches & Cream.
Cotton yarn is best for projects where there would be high absorption of water, however can be stiff to work with compared to other yarns. Make sure to give your hands a break if they need it.

Inspiration:
I’ve always had a deep connection with mountains. They have an instantly calming and grounding effect on me. I wish I could say that this idea came to me on my own – BUT if I’m being honest (which I always am!) this design was inspired by YOU, a follower! I had a message come through Etsy wondering if I had more mountain theme wall hangings in the works and suggested the quote ” The mountains are calling and I must go.” After creating the You’ll Move Mountains Blanket, I knew trying to squeeze the word “mountain” on a wall hanging wouldn’t fit… unless it was HUGE. However, that little seed had been planted in my mind and I couldn’t stop thinking about how to make it work.
I originally designed the bold version but I felt like maybe it was yelling at you. Haha. So I designed the cursive version…. Then I couldn’t decide which one I loved more! After sending out a little survey to family and friends, the poll was divided. “Can you offer both?” What a fantastic idea! Why not do both?? So that’s what I did. I hope between the two styles, you find one that speaks to you!

I used a combination of L&T Impeccable and Craft Smart Value for both designs. You can use any worsted weight (4) yarn that you love! An acrylic yarn is best, as it’s affordable and washes well. Get creative with your color combinations!

Today’s pattern release is extra special because its a DOUBLE pattern release! You’ll get both the ‘Wild Moon’ & ‘Stay Wild Moon Child’ wall hanging patterns. I designed them to be the same size so you could hang them side by side as a statement piece, stagger them, or hang them separately! From the nursery to the living room, these wall hangings will be the perfect addition to any moon lovers decor!
Inspiration:
This series of patterns was created for one of my dear friends. She’s a fellow Moon Child and a wildly creative soul. She’s one of the people that the universe placed in my path at the perfect time. If you think you can’t find real friendships through social media – you’re wrong! We originally bonded over the fact that we were both artists, then we found out that we were pregnant just 6 weeks apart. When we met for the first time, everyone around us thought we had been friends for years because the connection was so instant. Her birthday is coming up and when I think of her, I think of the moon. After I showed her the first design (Wild Moon) – she suggested making a second one the exact same size – then they could hang over her bed like a headboard! I loved the idea and the challenge was accepted! The Stay Wild Moon Child design was born!

On Wednesdays we wear pink. You can’t sit with us.
We have all experienced cliques at some point in our lives. Be it in high school, The Cool Moms group (you know the one), or in the workplace. They exist. Often with cliques I find that your worth is determined by your stature and what you have to offer rather than who you are or how you contribute.
If people were able to set aside their differences and focus on working together, how different a place the world would be. A sentence that we have all heard but sometimes rarely think about. The notion behind “being exclusive” is only really fun for those on the inside. For the rest of us looking in, we are left feeling like we have to have that or we are missing out.
That is where the idea of sharing this pattern with you all came from. This pattern was initially created to be featured in Kristy’s KYC Yarn Party Crochet Subscription Box. We worked together on this idea until it was something we both loved. Together we decided that by sharing it here in this form it would give us the ability to focus on community rather than competition. The people over profits mentality can build up not just one or two businesses but also all those who benefit. It takes it from an idea to a reality. It turns it into potential; a gift for a friend, that missing piece of decor for a nursery or perfect background for your office plant.
So much of life is focused on what we can do to get ourselves ahead, sometimes at the expense of tearing others down. We get much further building each other up if we take the time to focus on truly loving our neighbor and being a good human. The simplest thing can change someone’s whole day, a compliment, a smile; sharing a pattern. Blocking
Wet block work by misting with water on both sides until damp, then pin in place according to finished measurements. Leave in place until dry. You can speed up the process if you have a fan to run beside it. Or follow along with the video below.
Attach to stick / dowel
With RS facing, join two stands of yarn at top right corner. Pull up a big loop and insert your stick.Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over.Pull through stitch.Pull the loops up taller than the stick.Remove your hook.Slide loops over stick, then pull snug but not too tight. Repeat for each stitch, sliding stick along as you go.
Add Fringe (Optional)
With WS facing, insert hook from back to front.With fringe folded in half, pull up a loop.Remove hook, grab yarn with your fingers and pull through. Pull snug. Alternate using one, then two pieces of fringe to keep it from getting crowded/looking to sparse.If you want to shape the fringe, I recommend using masking tape to help hold your yarn as you cut. I chose a triangle shape but this is a great chance to get creative!
Add a Hanger
RS – Cut 2 pieces of yarn to approx. 18 inches or your desired length. Make a slip knot over one end and pull snug, tie a knot. Repeat with second side.WS – You could put a dab of hot glue or cut/file a notch behind where your hanger string sits, so it doesn’t squeeze your work in from the sides.

How many times have you listened to a song and you’ve been taken back to a moment? How many times has it brought back a memory you might have otherwise forgotten? Few things have the ability to anchor you to a moment the way music does. For me, this is where the inspiration for this pattern comes from.
It comes from the carefree summer days spent cruising through the mountains with my best friend. We would drive through the sunshine, singing at the top of our lungs, nothing existing outside of that moment. These lyrics, while untraditional in the ways of nursery rhymes, have always been a favorite to sing to my daughter. I hope that one day she hears this song and that she is brought back. Back to the sunbeams, back to the story in our laps; back to me rocking her. I hope she remembers the safety of my arms and the simplicity of this moment. How beautiful happy is.
If this song isn’t one of your favorites, that’s alright. The words are a gentle reminder that our babies are only little for a short while. Read them one more story. Rock them a little while longer. Sing them one more song. Time travel exists, every moment has a soundtrack of its own. Don’t skip yours, let it play.
The Yarn:
When making a wall hanging, I like to use a cheap, stiff yarn. I find it really helps the project hold its shape. For this pattern, I used less than one skein each (285y/260m) of Loops & Threads Impeccable yarn in colors: White & Black. The Impeccable line has SO MANY great color options, the combinations are endless! Other comparable yarns to use would be, Red Heart Super Saver, Bernat Super Value, or Big Twist Value. Of course, you can always substitute any worsted weight (4) yarn of your choice, it may just have a different drape when completed.
Materials:
> 570 yards, worsted weight ( 4 ) yarn. I used 2 skeins, Loops and Threads Impeccable, 4.5 oz/127.5 gm, 285 yds/260 m, in colors:
1 White [MC] & 1 Black [CC] (or your preferred color choices.)

Blocking
Wet block work by misting with water on both sides until damp, then pin in place according to finished measurements. Leave in place until dry. You can speed up the process if you have a fan to run beside it.
Attaching a stick / dowel
With RS facing, join two stands of yarn at top right corner. Pull up a big loop and insert your stick.Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over.Pull through stitch.Pull the loops up taller than the stick.Remove your hook.Slide loops over stick, then pull snug but not too tight. Repeat for each stitch, sliding stick along as you go.
Add Fringe (Optional)
With WS facing, insert hook from back to front.With fringe folded in half, pull up a loop.Remove hook, grab yarn with your fingers and pull through. Pull snug. Alternate using one, then two pieces of fringe to keep it from getting crowded/looking to sparse.If you want to shape the fringe, I recommend using masking tape to help hold your yarn as you cut. I chose a triangle shape but this is a great chance to get creative!
Add a hanger
RS – Cut 4 pieces of yarn to approx. 24 inches or your desired length. Make a slip knot over one end and pull snug, tie a knot. Repeat with second side.WS – You could put a dab of hot glue or cut/file a notch behind where your hanger string sits, so it doesn’t squeeze your work in from the sides.

My inspiration for this pattern came from my desire to make a pair of cozy pair of mittens that were also warm enough to withstand the cold (and sometimes harsh) Canadian winters. As Canadians, we grow up learning that winter is always just a few seasons away. We have learned to adapt for this reason. We have also learned to create things that will enable us to go about our day to day lives as well as enjoy outdoor activities for the duration of this long season. I like to think that these gloves allow for both these scenarios. They promote movement, comfort and functionality. If you are pumping your gas in a snowfall, taking the dog for a walk with a friend or ambushing your family with a snowball fight, they will always be there to keep your fingers warm and hands dry.
I asked some friends and family who I have gifted these gloves to over the years why they love them. A few of the responses that I got back were “they are comfortable”, “they are SO soft” and “they photograph well” from a goofy sibling. All of these are things I had kept in mind when creating this pattern. Some of the reasons why I have chosen to gift them are because they make great stocking stuffers. If you have a large family like I do, having a pattern that is also quick and easy to make is important as life gets a little busier heading towards the holiday season!
The Yarn:
For this pattern we are using Bernat Blanket yarn. I LOVE this yarn! It is a deliciously soft, chenille type yarn that is most often used for baby blankets. However, it has so much versatility that it makes it a great choice for this project as it is machine washable (Mom’s favorite phrase!) as well as dryer friendly! So after a few hours outside playing in the snow with your loved ones, feel free to take them off and pop them straight into the dryer while you warm up with hot cocoa and the perfect amount of marshmallows.
If you’ve never made a pair of mittens before, don’t worry! This beginner friendly pattern uses only single crochet and a few chains! I’ll walk you through step by step.

There is something quite magical about the changing of the seasons. The vivid hues of yellow, orange, and red. The crunching of the leaves underfoot. As the the crisp fall air kisses your cheeks, you reach for your cowl and pull it up close. The Autumn Bliss Cowl is the perfect transitional piece for your fall and winter wardrobe. This textured beauty is a close fitting, collar style cowl that can be worn tall to cover your face from the elements or worn gathered around your neck for a relaxed fall vibe. Pair it with a long tunic and leggings or a jean jacket!
I wanted to design a pattern that was first and foremost, cozy. I also wanted to create something that could be made with just one skein of yarn (money saving!) and crocheted in under an hour (time saving!) so that it makes the perfect cowl for gift giving or for market prep! One skein – one hour! Yep! Who doesn’t love a quick and easy make?
Construction: This cozy cowl is crocheted bottom up, in the round and features one of of my favorite stitches – Half Double Crochet. We will use the HDC stitch a couple different ways, turning a basic stitch into the gorgeous textured ridges you see here! Half Double Crochet in the 3rd loop(3LHDC) and Half Double Crochet in the Back Loop(HDCBL). With just two repeat rounds, it makes the PERFECT Netflix and crochet project.
The Yarn: The Autumn Bliss Cowl uses just ONE skein of Lion Brand Yarn Wool Ease Thick & Quick. I LOVE this yarn. It’s so versatile. 80% acrylic, which makes it a dream to work with. 20% wool for a touch of warmth but its not too scratchy on the skin! They have so many modern colors to choose from, it might be hard to make only one!
Materials:
100 yards, Super Bulky ( 6 ) yarn. I used 1 skein Lion Brand Yarns, Wool Ease Thick & Quick, 6 oz/170 g, 106 yd/97 m, in the ‘mustard’ colorway.

Happy Halloween my pretties! Here’s a free tapestry crochet dishcloth pattern for you! All treat, no tricks!
I love making seasonal dishcloths. It’s a quick and easy way to add a splash of the holidays in your kitchen. Plus, they make doing the dishes more fun. And with that being almost everyone’s least favorite chore, any little bit helps right?! Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays. I have a TON of decorations that I normally cover the house in… but if I’m being totally honest, this dishcloth is the only Halloween decorating I will be doing this year. Haha. Miss E is still a bit young to understand the concept, and we live on a secluded acreage, so we don’t get any trick or treaters. If you’re a big time decorator or have hardly any decorations at all, this scary dishcloth is for you!
The Yarn:
For this project I used Bernat Handicrafter Cotton. It’s affordable, durable, and comes in a wide variety of color options. Another great substitute would be Lily Sugar & Cream.
I designed this as a Jack-O-Lantern face, so my original vision was to make it orange and black. But I think it would look great in any Halloween color combination. If made with yellow or green features and a black background, it would look like a spooky grin in the dark night!

The first time I put a bow headband on my daughter, she was 4 months old. Talk about cuteness overload! Why had I not done that sooner?? A bow is now my favorite go to accessory for her! If I’m making her a handmade dress or top, I will also make a matching bow with the leftover scraps of yarn. I’m a believer that ‘bigger is better’ so I will usually choose the big bow over the little bow.
The bow pattern comes in two sizes, big & little. You can choose which bow size works best for you. Both use minimal amounts of yarn and are a quick, easy make. These would be great small items to add to your table/booth at your next show. (COVID restrictions permitting!) You’ll also learn a new stitch! Learning new things is great fun.
For the Big & Little Bows pattern I used Caron Cotton Cakes. It’s a worsted weight (4) cotton/acrylic yarn. This yarn has great stitch definition and can be washed and dried if needed. That is always a bonus when your dealing with babies/toddlers! You can also switch up your yarn to use any leftovers that you may have, just adjust your hook size accordingly.

Attaching the bow to clip/headband
1.2.3.1. Cut a long strand of yarn, tie it around the center of the bow. 2. Pull tight. You may have to adjust this a couple time to get the gather to look nice. One of my testers suggested pinching to gather first, then tying. 3. Once centered and secure, flip over and attach the clip or headband. Secure by tying a knot. Repeat 3 or 4 more times. Weave ends.
That’s it! Enjoy your bow! There are many ways to customize this. You can add sequins during stitching, or you can add a jewel to the front of the bow while tying attaching to your clip/headband. Have fun with it!

It’s been a long winter. According to the calendar it’s spring, but spring is nowhere in site around here. And with the whole world either in self isolation, quarantine lock down, or practicing social distancing, I thought we could all use a colorful pick-me-up!
As an aspiring gardener, it brings me great joy to see the first signs of spring… Tulips! Such a wonderful burst of color after the drab, dead winter. I love making wash cloths/dishcloths because they are a quick and easy project. They also make great anytime gifts…Mothers Day is coming up! This project is a great stash buster too! Use up those scraps! And really, can you ever have too many handmade dishcloths?

BOB: bobble stitch
Special Stitch Instructions – Bobble Stitch
1. Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through two loops.
2. Repeat this in the same stitch/space until you have a total of 6 loops on your hook.
3. Yarn over, pull through all 6 loops at once. Bobble complete.
Notes:
CH1 for SC rows is not counted as a stitch.
CH2 or 3 is counted as a stitch.
Tulip Wash Cloth Pattern
Row 1: Color A. CH 27, SC in 2nd CH from hook, SC in each CH. (26 SC)
Row 2 – 3: CH1, 1 SC in each ST (26 SC)
Row 4: Color B. CH3 (counts as DC + CH1), SK1, (DC, CH1, DC) into next ST, *SK2, (DC, CH1, DC) into next ST* Repeat 6 more times. SK1, DC into last ST. (8 DC,CH1, DC)
Row 5: Color C. CH3(counts as DC + CH1), make BOB into CH1 space, *CH2, BOB into CH1 space*. Repeat 6 more times. CH1, DC in last ST. (8 bobbles)
Row 6-8: CH1, SC in each ST. *For row 6 – DC into CH1 spaces* (26 SC)
Row 9: Repeat row 4.
Row 10:Color D. Repeat row 5.
Row 11-13: Repeat rows 6-8
Row 14: Repeat row 4
Row 15:Color C. Repeat row 5
Row 16-18: Repeat row 6-8. Do not cut yarn.
Edge
CH1, turn your work 1/4 turn. SC in same ST as last ST, SC evenly around the edge of you wash cloth adding (SC, CH1, SC) into each corner. SLST to CH1. Finish off. Weave your ends.

I am excited to share with you my latest pattern, the Boss Babe wall hanging. So who is a Boss Babe? A person who is bold, confident, in charge of their own life; someone who is unapologetic and not shy to express their authenticity. Previously, this was phrase which was strictly reserved for women, but we do not gatekeep. Anyone can be a Boss Babe no matter how they identify.
Recently my Instagram account was hacked and unfortunately I was not able to recover it. It was a setback as you can imagine, but I have now restarted another account from scratch. As I was designing this piece, I was reminded that I am a Boss Babe that this was just a stumbling block; I had done it before and I can do it again. This piece which is now hanging on a wall in my craft room has kept me motivated and inspired as I rebuild my Instagram account. This modern wall hanging is empowering in its message and will brighten up your room as a reminder to take up your space in this world as a Boss Babe.
The Yarn
Like many of my wall hangings, I used Loops and Threads Impeccable in colours Black [MC] & White [CC]. It’s a great affordable acrylic yarn, with many colour options that’s available at my local Michael’s. Any worsted Category 4 yarn that is stiff is perfect for wall hangings as it can hold its shape on the wall. Choose two bold contrasting colours that speak to your space and brand and give this project a go.
The pattern includes written instructions, photos, a video tutorial and a colorwork chart.
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner / Intermediate.
Tapestry crochet is done using the basic single crochet stitch, and a technique of holding 2 strands of yarn. The tutorial below will walk you through all the basics while you make a little tree sampler! If this is your first time trying tapestry crochet, I highly recommend making the tree sampler first. This will give you some practice with holding both strands of yarn and getting your tension right before starting a large project.
Materials:
450 yards, worsted weight ( 4 ) yarn. I used Loops and Threads Impeccable in colors:
240 yds Black [MC] & 210 yds White [CC]
US Size 7 Crochet Hook (4.5 mm)
Scissors
Darning needle
Spray Bottle
Pins
Foam mat
Stick / Dowel
Gauge:
15.5 stitches x 15.5 rows = 4″ square in SC
*Not super important for this project.*
Finished Size:
Approximately 17.5 x 19.5 inches.
